If you don’t have a qualified child, your family’s net income is multiplied by 1.5 to determine whether you qualify for food stamps. If you have a qualifying child, your family’s gross income is calculated by multiplying it by 2 to determine whether or not you are eligible for food stamps. If you have a qualifying child, you do not need to meet an income limit for food stamps. As a result, the family would be limited to receiving $192 in food stamps each month. In the United States, the poverty line for a family of three with an annual income of $24,120 was declared to be $26,600 on January 1, 2017.
